The children of the Earth are living in a time of great change and an uncertain future. Today, we have parents following in the footsteps of children like Greta Thornburg and taking a greener approach to raising their children, with the likes of veganism and home schooling.
We may be teaching the children a new sense of responsibility towards animals, the environment and their planet, but it doesn’t mean they should stop living their childhood. We need to remember to nurture the creativity inside that is more than ready to sprout.
So today I’m here to promote some ecological fun while educating the connection we have forgotten about, the pride we should be taking in growing our own food. This one’s for the children and your inner artist, let’s draw, let’s write, let’s sow our inner garden.
I have collaborated with the lovely Nanna, from ‘Sprout World’ to give away a gift to one of you lucky people, which you can enter into on my Instagram. But first, let’s have a look at this trendy company and all it inspires.
“Sprout pencils are the original plantable pencils, patented and guaranteed to be of the highest quality. All aspects of the Sprout pencil are sustainable and non-toxic – from the biodegradable seed capsule to the 100% natural clay and graphite core and PEFC/FSC-certified wood.
Regardless of whether you choose Sprout pencils in colour or in grey, they are a joy to use. And when it’s time to stop writing and start planting, you’ll find it’s just as much fun to watch the seeds turn into plants.
All Sprout seeds have been selected because they are easy to germinate. So you can enjoy vibrant flowers, fragrant herbs or fresh vegetables.”
I highly appreciate the entertaining video guide and downloadable information documents that can be used side by side with the pencils. It means, if you are completely new to growing food, you are helped along the journey. Sprout Pencils website is very visually appealing, and easy to navigate around, meaning children can read and join in.
So I’m a writer and a doodler, and once I received my pencils I immediately began to draw and make notes on my new and upcoming book. I found them to be as effective as a high end pencil, with no risk of breakage. Happily doodling away I even enjoyed the fresh wood smell, which regular pencils fail to diffuse.
I think my favourite thing about these pencils are not just the 2 in 1 usage, but the fact the seeds are so cleverly and safely stored away, and BIG BONUS are not GMO! I mean if you are like me and go hunting for seeds locally, they are very rarely organic.
I care about what people eat, especially children, and these pencil’s guarantee to be a no-nasty growth. But back to the point of the pencil, how amazing is it to draw with something you are eventually going to plant? I mean I’m still in awe with this product, it’s efficient and saves money.
As a super positive solution based person, when making notes and gathering my ideas the motivational quotes on the pencils, left me smiling and gave me that little nudge not to give up on my writing goals. So thank you for the encouragement!
